Having up to date registration details for all the NEU members in the district is critical to our function. This position would suit someone who can spare an hour every couple of weeks to work on the maintenance of our membership database. This will entail working from select database reports to chase up members who we have invalid contact details for, and updating legacy records that do not have mobile numbers or e-mail addresses attached. This position would suit someone who can work methodically to keep records up to date, and is comfortable liaising with members through various means of communication including telephone, e-mail and text.

We are looking for someone (possibly two) fairly new to the profession to take up a seat as our young members’ officer. We need someone who can give us insight into the general thoughts, feelings and opinions of those new to the profession across the city who will report back to the committee. There is huge scope in this roll to really work at improving engagement between young teachers and the union, with plenty financial support available to realise the ideas you might have. You would report back to the committee highlighting the general issues relating to new entrants to the profession, and investigate ways to increase engagement.

You will provide advice and opinion to the committee and officers with how best to deal with issues our LGBT+ members face. You would also have a large input into how the district supports the pride celebrations.

Our previous women’s officers have done exceptional work in pushing the menopause agenda across schools in Hull, having some fantastic successes realised through new policies and procedures in many workplaces in Hull. There is still work to do though and we are looking for a committed officer (or two) to continue pushing for fairness in the way issues specific to women in the workplace are dealt with. You would report back to the committee at meetings through a short report highlighting workplace issues both nationally and locally, as well as seek to identify key areas of work to be done in the city to progress your agenda.
